A pickup truck is a vehicle that's bigger than most cars and is mainly used for hauling stuff around. If you have to move a sofa, it's good to have a friend with a pickup truck!

A pickup truck, or simply a pickup, is a lightweight truck with an enclosed cab, where the driver sits, and an open bed in back. Some pickup trucks are large enough to seat three or four passengers, but most have room for a driver and one other person. Pickup truck, first used in the 1930s, most likely comes from the fact that they are used to pick up goods and transport them.
